Clams - A Cedar Key specialty
Cedar Key is the Clam Capital!
Home Even though we have a gourmet kitchen ready for you to whip up your favorite meal in Tranquility, you will want to try the local restaurants.

The Cedar Keys are known world-wide for its clams - sweet, tender, and non-gritty. Clams are farmed in the clean waters of the Gulf surrounding the islands. Most restaurants offer clams cooked in most any way you can imagine. It would be a fun trip to sample a different take on preparing clams each day! Hmmm... maybe next trip.

Cedar Key offers a number of quality eating establishments, from the elegant (the Island Room at Cedar Cove) to the corner pizza place. Local restaurants offer the freshest seafood that local fishermen and clammers have to offer. Whatever your pleasure, there will be a restaurant to suit your tastes. Except that none of the local restaurants will require that you "dress for dinner". Wear your sun dress, your shorts, or your dockers. Just remember, shoes and a shirt will be required. ;) How much better does life get? Marvelous food without the fuss?

Island Room at Cedar Cove
The Island Room at Cedar Cove offers elegant dining in a laid back atmosphere. The menu is continental with an island flair. A few recommendations: the Crab Bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, Linguini Alle Vongole (littleneck clams in wine and other marvelous ingredients), Grouper Savannah, and the Creme Brulee for dessert... Great beer selection! Serving dinner every night and brunch on Sundays (don't miss the Crab Benedict!)

Dock Street Depot
The Dock Street Depot offers casual breakfast, lunch, and dinner overlooking the dock in Cedar Key. Offering excellent fried and broiled seafood, Dock Street also has some unusual menu items such as Seafood Jambalaya. Try it!

Frogs Landing Restaurant
Frog's Landing, located on Dock Street provides a good selection of fried seafood and some local specials. Music is offered on the weekends. Visitors heartily endorse the "Toadally Awesome" Shrimp Pie, the crab bisque, and key lime pie.

Blue Desert Cafe
The Blue Desert Cafe offers a southwestern take on local seafood. Don't be in a hurry here, but you will get a great selection of pizzas, burritos, and assorted interesting specials are always on the menu. The link is to a review - they don't have a website. The restaurant is located on Highway 24 in Cedar Key. Great beer selection!

Deck Street Depot
The Depot is Cedar Key's newest restaurant and offers excellent food in a completely non-smoking restaurant. OWned by Peter Stefani, the Island Room's highly recommended chef, Dock Street Depot offers native seafood fried and broiled.

Seabreeze on the Dock
Seabreeze on the Dock serves lunch and dinner every day. The menu is quite varied and they offer several "package" feasts to suit every taste. Seabreeze also has a lounge with weekend entertainment. If you have come to Cedar Key with someone not really adventuresome to try much seafood - Seabreeze is a safe choice for land lubbers.

Pizza at the Cedar Key Market
The Cedar Key Market at Rt. 24 and 3rd Street has great pizza. Stop by the Market and pick up a menu or give them a call. Be sure to order early - they close up sooner than you'd think.

Island Hotel Restaurant
The Island Hotel offers elegant dining in a laid back atmosphere - serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Best beer selection on the island!
