Cedar Key Florida Clams are the best!
|
Cedar Key Restaurants Seafood, Clams, Yum...
Even though we have a gourmet kitchen ready for you to whip up your favorite meal in Tranquility, you will want to try the local Cedar Key restaurants.
The Cedar Keys are known world-wide for their clams - sweet, tender, and non-gritty. Sweet Cedar Key Florida clams are farmed in the clean waters of the Gulf surrounding the islands. Local restaurants offer clams cooked in most any way you can imagine. Hmmm, maybe we need a mission to sample a different restaurant's take on clams each day!
Cedar Key offers a number of quality restaurants, from the elegant (the Island Room at Cedar Cove) to the Island Pizzeria. Local restaurants offer the freshest seafood that local fishermen and clammers have to offer. Whatever your pleasure, there will be a restaurant to suit your tastes. Except that none of the local restaurants will require that you "dress for dinner". Wear your sun dress, your shorts, or your dockers. Just remember, shoes and a shirt will be required. ;) How much better does life get? Marvelous food without the fuss?
- Coconuts of Cedar Key
- Coconuts of Cedar Key has moved into the former Captain's Table next to the big dock downtown in Cedar Key! Known for its rather funky and irreverant approach to restauranting - Coconuts offers bar food (via the Rusty Rim) and drinks at reasonable prices. And you can bring your own (or rent from them) fishing pole to fish off the dock while you nosh. A unique concept in Cedar Key - there's lots of action here. One of the best locations for watching sunsets with service.
-
- Island Pizzeria!
- The Island Pizzeria on Rt. 24 has excellent pizza. This is the best pizza we've ever had in Cedar Key. They are open 7 days a week AND they deliver! Enough said! Go get some - you know you want it...

A few recommendations: the Crab Bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, Linguini Alle Vongole (littleneck clams in wine and other marvelous ingredients), Grouper Savannah, and the Creme Brulee for dessert... Great beer selection! Serving dinner every night and brunch on Sundays (don't miss the Crab Benedict!) A Florida Magazine winner!
-
- Frogs Landing Restaurant
- Frog's Landing, located on Dock Street provides a good selection of fried seafood and some local specials. Music is offered on the weekends. Cedar Key visitors heartily endorse the "Toadally Awesome" Shrimp Pie, the crab bisque, and key lime pie.

- Tony's Seafood in Cedar Key
- Winner of the 2009 28th Annual Schweppes Great Chowder Cook-off in Newport, R.I.Tony's Seafood offers a great menu for lunch and dinner. They will even deliver it to you in their cute little golfcart if you have cash (no credit cards for delivery...)! Try the clam chowder - made with sweet Cedar Key clams and a white sauce like New England chowder, it's spiced up a bit for a little jazz! Great lunch specials every day! (Note - if you're a big group - they add tips to the bill.)
