More Photos of Cedar Key, FL

You've probably already seen enough photos of Cedar Key on this website - but, there are always a few folks (like us) who still want to see more. This page is for all of us. ;-)

Our Cedar Key, FL photos were taken around the area - some are around town, some from Atsena Otie Island, some are from Tranquility and Fenimore Mill, and some are a little too moody for the standard "fun in the sun" or vacation sorts of photos. When they are not earning a living, John is a nature photographer and Cindy is a bird artist. Cedar Key is a playground for photographers and artists. The light on the ocean and marsh is continually changing, the colors are awesome, and storms make it all much more unusual.

A trip to Atsena Otie Key, June 2003...

Atsena Otie is a small island about one half mile by water from the town of Cedar Key. It is a part of the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge Islands, but is open to the public year-round. It's a terrific shelling island and is good for swimming as well!

It's only accessible by boat (you can rent a boat at the town marina. We explored the interior of the island, there's a path that leads to an old cemetery. The live oak trees are gorgeous and covered with spanish moss. The interior of the island is also full of skeeters - bring the repellant!

More views of the estuary...

We never tire of the views in Cedar Key, FL. The colors and light on the estuary change all day long. It's fascinating to see the birds, the tide changes, the weather...
